YIN YOGA & THE FASCIAL MATRIX WORKSHOP – TRIYOGA CAMDEN
Join Sarah Lo for a day of exploration through the somatic experience of yin yoga and mindfulness for this day long workshop. We will practice yin yoga, somatic enquiry and mindfulness meditation in both the morning and afternoon sessions as well as discussing the relevance of fascia to yin yoga. Since there is still no evidence based findings on the practice of yin yoga and its effects on fascia, this will be a day for anyone interested in developing ideas and curiosity within a yin practice.
In this workshop, we will explore:
Fascia Messengers
Tapping into the intelligence of the body through becoming more somatically attuned to the messenger signals from the fascial matrix of the body has never been more at the forefront of science and research. Imagine then that if all movement is generating messages through the watery matrices of this extra cellular tissue and we can begin to understand why there is a rippling effect of sensations felt in areas of the body far away from the original initiation of the movement.
Scientists and movement practitioners seem to agree that neuroreceptors in fascia respond well to long held pressure and elongation and it would seem that this method of encouraging a longer held ‘release’ type tensional force through the connective tissues is akin to what we do in Yin Yoga.
Fascia and emotions
It is now believed that fascia can contract and respond to messenger substances independent of muscle tissue. This has a huge implication for understanding how emotional stresses are held and transmitted within the tissues of the body, just as Chinese Medicine has believed for thousands of years.
Yin yoga and mindfulness
Add the principles and foundations of Mindfulness to help the practitioner learn to tune in to the somatic experience and we may have a method or way of helping practitioners understand how to also embody the whole experience of body, heart and mind.
Sarah Lo is delighted to have been invited this year to present her yin yoga & the connection to fascia workshops at the British Fascia Symposium in May this year at Solihull and hopes to expound her own theories of the relevance of yin yoga to maintaining healthy fascia in the whole body and how this can help us on an emotional as well as physical level.
There will be an hour and a half lunch break in this workshop.
